Artist's Comments

I recently went on a Safari to the local zoo. I have always been fascinated by large cats so I took the opportunity to get some pictures. The cats were pretty active and vocal today. Their growl is AMAZING!!! It will put goose bumps on your skin.

I took several different pictures but I tried to make it looks as though they were not in a zoo….Wasn’t able to make it happen in all the photos, but I did try.

This Cheetah photo was taken through a chain link fence which explains some of the odd haze to it.

Only minor color corrections done in PS

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

This picture is my first published work. I submitted it to be used in a calendar that would helps support the World Wildlife Fund. I was choosed for the month of Feb.

Great looking cheetah, I just love those eyes!

I have to say it's the eyes, that are not looking at the camera. People seem to like that :D

It appears as a more natural photograph.

nice shot, but you should've adjusted it in photoshop a bit, to add colour and vibrance.

see just a slight increase in saturation, and you have colour!

Agree with you about the eyes part....that is one thing that the tigers don't have is visible eyes.

As far as the color, i looked at the link and it looks good as well. I think that would give it more of an artistic feel, cause I don't remember the Cheetah being quite that brightly colored, it was a little more dull.

I guess the question is, do you wish to give an acurate representation of what you were seeing, or show how you would want to see it? And then to follow up with another question......when should you do which one??

Thanks for your comments.

well i can tell you that accuracy in the modern world is unrealistic, coz everyone has monitors with different brightnesses, different colour vibrance, different tints, and so on... So you might as well go for the artistic approach :D
